BrainChip recently issued a press release stating that the company had partnered with Toulouse Tech Transfer and the Brain and Cognition Research Center (Centre de Recherche Cerveau et Cognition – CERCO) to advance development into next-generation neural network technology.

BrainChip is a leading developer of software and hardware applications for a number of advanced intelligence and machine learning applications. The company recently issued notice of their new Spiking Neuron Adaptive Processor (SNAP) technology. SNAP can learn autonomously and evolve, showing the same breadth and flexibility as an average human brain. The technology can process large amounts of data at a fast speed and doesn’t consume as much energy.

By partnering with CERCO and Toulouse Tech Transfer, BrainChip will have exclusive access to the learning rules and algorithms already developed by CERCO, termed as JAST. The techniques will be applied to BrainChip’s existing products, further enhancing the technology’s capabilities.

BrainChip hopes to combine JAST with its already existing SNvision, their software solution, and SNAPvision, the hardware platform that’s recommended for running the software program. SNAPvision uses an FPGA to store the existing learning rules and algorithms for their software.

BrainChip caters its products to a wide-range of markets. One of their top areas is civil surveillance, facial recognition, audio analytics, and visual inspection systems. Other areas include financial applications and other data intensive solutions. The software and hardware are designed to process, learn, track and identify trends within large and complex data streams.
